Genesis
I decided to explore the theme of creation stories for my new body of work.
So I started with a representation of the Biblical Genesis and the 7 days of creation.
The void at the beginning, "darkness was over the surface of the deep."
“Let there be light,” God, separated the light from the darkness
Next cosmic waters and oceans, then land separating the waters. Seeds, plants and trees growing from the soil. Then Day and night with all the lights of the cosmos followed by the fish, birds and next all the four legged animals and creepy crawlies. The last bit at the top is man's section, I didn't want to paint a picture of a man but the painting inside the painting.
We're the only species we know of that has stories and the capacity to love the life found in the world. We also have the capacity to destroy it.
Special thanks to Vinita Sharma for painting the row of trees on this particular painting.

Stream of Life Poem- By Rabindranath Tagore
The same stream of life that runs through my veins night and day
runs through the world and dances in rhythmic measures.
It is the same life that shoots in joy through the dust of the earth
in numberless blades of grass
and breaks into tumultuous waves of leaves and flowers.
It is the same life that is rocked in the ocean-cradle of birth
and of death, in ebb and in flow.
I feel my limbs are made glorious by the touch of this world of life.
And my pride is from the life-throb of ages dancing in my blood this moment.
