The forest took just under 6 months to paint. It is an imagined ancient British woodland inhabited by birds and animals that lived or once lived in the British isles. It is the product of applying techniques, principles and ways of seeing learnt in India and at the Prince's school to the natural world I see around me.
The ochre colours were collected from a cave in Wales (Clearwell caves). Malachite, Lapis and cinnebar stones were ground for other colours.
The piece was inspired by the medieval sentiments of St Thomas Aquinas when he said "art is the imitation of nature in her manner of operation"
This painting received the runner up prize in the Art in action fair 2014.
